San Francisco 49ers right tackle Colton McKivitz has agreed to a three-year, $45 million extension that will keep him in San Francisco through the 2028 season (per ESPN, who first reported the deal on Monday.) McKivitz’s agent Doug Hendrickson confirmed that the deal includes $27 million in guaranteed money.

The 29-year-old McKivitz had been playing under a one-year, $7 million extension that he signed in March 2024 and now has a deal that ranks 14th best among right tackles in average annual value. McKivitz said just last week that the two sides were working on an extension, telling reporters: “I think it’s pretty open right now. Nothing crazy is going on but both sides have said that we want to be here, which I do. I love playing here. I love being a part of this team and they’ve reciprocated that. So when it does come, I’d be excited for it, but we’ll see.”

The 49ers drafted McKivitz in the fifth round in 2020; he has started 40 of 63 games since the 49ers drafted him in the fifth round in 2020, including Sunday’s season-opener which saw the 49ers (1-0) defeat the Seattle Seahawks (0-1).

San Francisco will face the New Orleans Saints (0-1) in Week 2 on Sunday in New Orleans.
